Rachel and Daisy

Type of dog:

Adelaide Immigration Transit

October 2017

Daisy and I are new volunteers and our placement is at the Adelaide Immigration Detention Centre where Daisy has made such a difference!

We have been going there for nearly 6 months now, and the guys wait for her visits with water for her - a far cry from the first few times we visited where most of them were terrified of her.

By letting them acclimatize to Daisy they have come to understand that dogs can be "just a friend" with no expectations, someone they can show affection to without fear.

They talk to her like she is a person and she just sits there with that big smile on her face and waits for her pats. It’s a win win!
